I had a WONDERFUL time reading stories this morning at the Southside Roast and wanted to thank owner, Ann, for hosting me. We had a great turn out with a quilt full of children eager to hear some good stories while the adults enjoyed iced coffee and conversation.
What’s even more exciting to me is that this lovely opportunity affirms just how much I’m going to love reading my very own picture book when it debuts next summer. I can’t wait to take GOODNIGHT, ARK (Zonderkidz, 2014) into classrooms, libraries, book shops and coffeehouse so I can share it with as many children as I can. That will be a real treat!
With that fun thought thought in mind, here are a few snapshots from this morning to share in celebration of children, coffee, and great books.
So exciting. Sorry I couldn’t make it – project work not going as smoothly as I hoped.
That’s okay. Hope your got the project ironed out.
Looks like a fun time! What books did you read?
It was great. I read HOGWASH, by Karma Wilson, PUNK FARM, by Jarrett Krosoczka, WHAT THE LADYBUG HEARD, by Julia Donaldson, and BIG CHICKENS, by Leslie Helakoski. The kids sat riveted to the story, despite the cheering banging of coffee making. I can’t wait to read again.
Looks like everyone had a wonderful time, Laura! And you are so right – how fun it’s going to be when you get to read your own book there next summer! 🙂
Yes, I can’t wait!
Fun, Laura! It looks like a bit of an older crowd, too, probably since it is summer. It’s nice that older kids can still be riveted by picture books.
Looks like you had fun! Yes, it’ll be even more fun to read your own book!
You were a big hit! Thanks so much for reading. Hope you’ll be back.
Shaun
Thanks so much. I would LOVE to come back for more story times!
I would love to do that. I like seeing the eyes of a child light up when they are being read a book they love.
Me too! I hope to become a “regular” there. I’m already gathering book ideas for next time.
Looks like it was a very enjoyable event! And, congratulations again on your upcoming PB release. It’s SO exciting! 🙂
